Make Sense Design wins Silver at the E-Learning Awards, 2014.

Make Sense Design wins Silver at the E-Learning Awards in one of the most hotly contested categories: ‘Best use of e-learning to ensure compliance with external regulations or internal policies’.

14 organisations including Tesco, BT, Honda, NHS, PwC and AXA Insurance were shortlisted for the award which involves an intensive judging process over 2 months. The award ceremony was held at The Grosvenor Hotel in Mayfair in November and attracted entrants from around the world.

About the project:

The Golden Rules course has set the ‘gold standard’ for compliance training at Connect Group PLC, with a witty and stimulating exploration of Health and Safety that breaks the mould. The e-learning course replaces 20,000 words of written material with engaging interactive content, all delivered with a humorous touch but with serious intent. The course makes artful use of simulation and distraction to surprise learners, and to communicate powerful messages that target specific audiences.   As a result, Golden Rules isn’t just generating H&S awareness and ensuring legal compliance at Connect Group PLC – it is helping to change day-to-day behaviour in the workplace.

The judges said:

“It was a fresh and exciting campaign-based approach to Health & Safety compliance, combining creative and instructional innovation with strong execution.”

The client said:

“We’re delighted with the finished product in terms of quality, thoroughness of design, innovation, and look and feel.  We now have a sharp instrument rather than a blunt tool for our H&S training and compliance needs. We set out to define the standard for e-learning in the business, and that’s exactly what we got. This project is now the gold-standard benchmark for all subsequently produced e-learning across the Group.”

We say:

“It is great to get recognition in this category, confirming our belief that an immersive and engaging approach makes otherwise dull learning an enjoyable and memorable experience.

To make compliance training a rewarding exercise and not just a tick box exercise is a tough challenge.  We believe that people are more likely to learn if they feel engaged and empowered – and this project proves that valuing the learner in this way can deliver better results.

The Golden Rules course is a new type of compliance project that got people in the business talking, motivating them to CHOOSE to engage with the subject. Humour, mini games, leaderboards, visual design and memorable hooks all played their part in capturing the attention of the audience.”
